Could use some extra information. Maybe a video, or a background about Vikings, etc.

Here is some info i pulled together by looking around the internet for 5 minutes. The Vikings very likely were the first Europeans to sail to the Americas, so I think they deserve a little more attention from your wiki page!

Viking Ships

The ships used by the vikings in the Mediterranean were a combination of beauty, style, and function. Serving as their main way of transportation, they relied heavily on these ships. These ships were absolutely beautiful because of, not only the art added to them, but also the art of the actual ship. It's easy to see just how much hard work was put into these wonderful and awe inspiring ships.

Knarr

The knarr is the Nordic term for ships that were built for voyages and were mainly used as cargo ships. These ships were over 50 feet long and had a hull that could carry over 20 tons. A knarr was primarily used to transport walrus ivory, wool, timber, wheat, furs, armor, honey, weapons, and even slaves. They were also used to deliver food, drinks, weapons, and armor to warriors and traders throughout the Mediterranean.

Karve

Karves were smaller ships that were very similar to the knarr. These ships were designed to move through shallower waters. Because of this, they were often used to transport people, livestock, and other goods. Karves were usually about 70 feet in length and allowed up to 16 oars.

Faering

A faering is a small open boat that usually has two sets of oars, and occasionally had a small sail (usually a square sail). Boats similar to these are found in most boat-building societies. These boats were often used fishing vessels.

Longship

Longships were used for trade, exploration, and warfare. These ships are often characterized as a graceful, long, narrow, light wooden boat with a shallow hull designed for speed. The particular skills and methods employed in making longships are still used world wide, often with modern adaptations. They were all made out of wood, with cloth flags and had lots of details and carvings on the hull. These ships used both oars and sails as their methods of propulsion. However, these ships didn't have benches for the crew, so when they were rowing the oars, they usually sat on sea chests, often containing their personal possessions, that would have otherwise just taken up space.
